John Matthias

John Matthias is a talented and creative multi-disciplinary artist with 11 years of experience in animation, multimedia, film production/editing and graphic design. John is our specialist in website and multimedia animation, and 3D modelling.

John pursued formal training in film production and commercial art before obtaining his BA in Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal. After several years as a commercial video editor, John spent 7 years with the National Film Board of Canada as a 3D/FX compositor on a range of film, video and multimedia titles. In particular, John was Lead Designer for an NFB children's educational CD-ROM called Has Anyone Seen My Umbrella?, for which he was responsible for preproduction conceptual designs, production design, interface design, and game logic.

Most recently, John helped establish the Centre for Digital Arts at Concordia University, where he designed and created a range of IT facilities and services to support the adoption of digital technologies in curriculum, research and operations for the Faculty of Fine Arts.
