“Get Your Share!” Promotion With the opening of London's new downtown entertainment complex, the John Labatt Centre, MainStreet merchants wanted to show their support for their new neighbour and also capitalize on pedestrian traffic. The first major concert booked at the JLC was Cher. In early 2002, MainStreet retained SC to develop a contest promotion that would appeal to merchants and shoppers alike. "Get Your Share!" promised shoppers the chance to win thousands of Downtown Dollars and dozens of tickets to the sold-out Cher concert. All they had to do was spot our "Cher look-alike" wandering the streets of downtown over a two-week period. For merchants, we provided a kit including marketing and merchandising ideas, window posters, lapel buttons, and the opportunity for them to "get their share" of downtown traffic. We arranged co-op advertising opportunities for merchants in the London Free Press and on local radio stations. Get Your Share! was an incredibly successful campaign for downtown merchants, and received considerable editorial exposure as well. |
