Acumen Research Group Inc. is a full-service market research firm specializing in consumer loyalty and relationship management — whether in the retail, financial, B2B, higher education or public sectors. Founded in 1995, Acumen provides a full range of market research services, from satisfaction surveys, market trends, perceptions and buying behaviours to loyalty/relationship assessment, benchmarking, and branch or region comparisons.

In 2000, Acumen launched the ConsumerEyes™ survey, a national snapshot of consumer attitudes, perceptions, and loyalty to retailers, financial institutions, and telecommunications providers. This project provided key insights into the weaknesses of traditional CRM and Loyalty programs, and led to the development of their proprietary Customer Loyalty Index™ or CLI™.

SC created a new, more contemporary brand identity for Acumen (above right), and developed a stationery suite, report covers (above left), report templates, a B2B capabilities brochure (centre) and comprehensive website (www.acumenresearch.com).

Over the past 9 years, Acumen Research has become much more than SC's preferred research provider — Acumen is a strategic partner in our consumer research projects, while SC provides Acumen with strategic direction for marketing and public relations activities. In 2003, Acumen and SC launched a joint venture subsidiary, Academica Group Canada, to provide a comprehensive suite of market research and marketing services to the education sector.

Challenge:
Reposition a leading national market research firm specializing in customer relationships and loyalty, so that it will appeal to local business clients in Southwestern Ontario for less sophisticated projects.

Strategy:
SC created a capabilities brochure and website the describe the benefits of consumer research, and graphically depict the concept of "getting inside your customer's head."

Results:
Acumen Research now has the professional brand, website, stationery and capabilities brochure to reflect the quality and professionalism of their own research work.
